Reducing abandoned carts with a conversation instead of an email
Why cart reminders sent as a conversation get read differently than a marketing email, and how to structure the follow-up.
An abandoned cart email competes with dozens of other unread messages in an inbox. A WhatsApp reminder arrives in a space customers actually check, which changes both the open rate and the tone that works best. A conversational reminder can be shorter, more direct, and can invite a reply rather than just a click.
The most effective reminders are specific: naming the item left behind rather than a generic 'you left something in your cart' message, and giving the customer an easy way to ask a question if that's what's actually stopping them from completing the order.
Timing matters as much as wording. A reminder sent too soon can feel intrusive; one sent too late misses the moment of intent. Most businesses find a window of one to a few hours works best, though this is worth testing against your own customers' behaviour.
